Overview:
ABC Squared originated as a response to an altogether too familiar failing of public education: some children in the mainstream of education "fall through the cracks", a sad but not rare experience known to many teachers and families. Jacalyn Klausmeyer, owner and founder of ABC Squared was herself a classroom teacher who saw the need to deliver individualized instruction to students, even though normal class size is 25-30 students, and secondary teachers may deal with 100-150 students per term. How can busy teachers address the needs of all students, yet still remain free to develop curriculum, evaluate student work, and still attend the numerous meetings and inservices required by the profession? Of course, it cannot all be done. As a result, ABC Squared was born. Our tutors travel to the student and a typical session is between 60-90 minutes long. Tell us what your needs are, and we'll assess if it's a problem we can address through tutoring. If, on the other hand, we feel that the student's problems cannot be improved by tutoring, we won't hesitate to say so, but we'll also make every effort to put you in touch with services that might be more effective.
