| Overview: The primary purpose of the SCDAA-National Coordinating and Evaluation Center (NCEC) project is three-fold: - to work with the grantees of the 17 community-based projects to document and assess the progress of their proposed work; - to continue the process of providing coordination, information exchange, consultation, training, the collection and dissemination of Newborn Screening (NBS) materials and related information, and; - data gathering tools and procedures and to continue working on developing a common database and implementation plan that will be used to assist the NCEC, MCHB and grantees in evaluating the success of the overall initiative. Additionally, the NCEC will work towards: - the development, evaluation and eventual refinement of a National Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) Counselor Training and Certification Program; and - a financial and logistical support program that will allow for 'as needed' participation of clients and families in the efforts of this initiative. | |
