Overview:
Amar Oil Company had its beginning in 1947 as a Shell jobbership when Edward Amar Sr. moved to Hammond from new Orleans. The business was located on West Church Street in Hammond where it remains to this day. It was at this time that the Amar family's philosophy of service to its customers and to the community at large had its inception and has survived throughout many years of growth and change. In 1947 the volume of gas sales began at approximately35,000 gallons per month and is now close to 3.5 million gallons per month. Today, Amar Oil serves 35 Chevron and Citgo outlets along with 7 independent dealers. Of these numbers, they own and operate 14 convenience stores, employing around 150 people. | |
