Overview:
Orbit Motion Technologies was founded in 1976 by engineer, Pierre Foret in Falmouth, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. The company, known at the time as Foret Systems, Inc., was the inventor and manufacturer of the patented Vac-U-Torq vacuum indexing clutch brake. With one other employee, Foret produced the Vac-U-Torq units in the basement of his home. The total turnover for 1976 was $27,000. In 1980, Foret moved the operation to a 7500 sq. ft. facility, also in Falmouth. That same year Foret granted a license to a large Danish industrial manufacturer, Danfoss A/S. The license allowed Danfoss to produce the Vac-U-Torq clutch brake and controls for the European and Japanese markets. | |
