Overview:
It saddens us greatly to send this letter to our many friends and guests, but Aimhi will not be open for the 2007 season. We regret the timing of this decision and understand the great inconvenience this causes to so many families' summer plans. Perhaps no family is more upset by this decision than ours - Aimhi is a significant part of our lives, family history and tradition. We have made such dear friends over the years and understand we are letting many of you down. The severe storm of April 16th did extensive damage to the property and cottages. Major damage includes all wiring and electrical destroyed, extensive tree damage, the cottage Ritz pushed off the foundation by a large pine, and a crushed corner and floor at Center Harbor. Damage has been done to several other cabins as well. We have spent the last two weeks assessing the damage and the time and money needed to make repairs. The combination of a natural disaster and the property being listed on the real estate market has made the future just too tenuous to continue opening for this summer season. Although there have been several questions raised about the future of Aimhi, and a significant amount of uncertainty - none of us ever imagined this would be the manner in which we would close Aimhi's doors and say good-bye after 88 years.
