| Overview: The Bangor Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1896, and hasn't missed a season since, making BSO the oldest continuously operating community orchestra in the U.S. Today, thanks to the talents and energy of Maestro Xiao-Lu Li and the 65+ Symphony musicians, it continues to bring powerful, enriching and diverse musical experiences to people throughout Maine. The Symphony presents many concerts each season, from six classical concerts and a youth concert series to summer POPS to innovative collaborations and community partnerships. The Symphony also brings live concerts and ensemble performances to towns and schools across the state. Many great artists have brought their talents to Symphony performances, from YoYo Ma and Isaac Stern, to the world premiere concert with the Kruger Brothers in June 2007. The Bangor Symphony Orchestra is a member of the American Symphony Orchestra League and a 2007 recipient of the National Endowment for the Arts award for artistic excellence. | |
