| Overview: The Institute was founded seventeen years ago with the strict purpose of providing low cost education and placement opportunities for persons desiring to work in the security management industry. One of the Institute's main affirmative positions is that a formal college environment is not for everyone. Up until 1992, the State of Ohio allowed private security schools to administer their own "in-house" examinations. The security officers were approved by the State on the basis of pass/fail information provided by a particular school. Many of these schools reported their students scoring 95% or better on the final examination. Brentley found that to be an amazing statistic! These schools appeared to be in the money gouging business, and not the education business. Brentley spearheaded the drive for the State of Ohio to administer a standardized test that applied to all schools, which subsequently took the testing function from the individual schools. There had to be some legitimacy, if the industry was to thrive, and present a professional image. Among other things, this was one example of the state of the industry at the time Brentley became operational. The Institute, is first and foremost, a collection of educators with many and varied experiences in the adult education field, coupled with private and public law enforcement interests. The Institute also has over 25 years of experience in law as it relates to juvenile matters... | |
