Overview:
Michael Barrett - Originally taken by the Expos as a shortstop in the first round of the June 1995 draft, Barrett was switched to catcher at the end of his tenure with the club's Rookie League team that fall. Barrett made his MLB debut on September 19, 1998. He then won a spot on the Expos' roster the next spring. He batted .293 with 8 home runs while ranking among NL rookie leaders with 32 doubles, 127 hits, 52 RBIs and 53 runs scored. He set a record at Pace Academy with .638 batting record and was awarded Gatorade State Player of the Year and USA Today All-American (1995). | |
