Overview: Community Action Partnerships were created in 1964 under legislation signed by President Lyndon B. Johnson. Approximately 1,000 CAPs are located across the country and are the premiere network in community building, service delivery and low-income advocacy in this country. Thousands of Americans will reach self-sufficiency because of Community Action Partnerships. We identify problems and help find real solutions by offering life skills classes and job training, housing assistance, nutrition programs, child care and family development programs. |
